Allen “AJ” Edwards helps school and organizational leaders connect emergency preparedness with what continues after a crisis: essential operations, clear decisions, communications, people, and recovery. He leads AJ Edwards Consulting, a founder-led practice focused on private and independent K–12 schools, school associations, and other institutions.
An Army veteran, AJ brings military and civilian emergency-management, operations, and hazard-analysis experience to practical planning. His work at Pueblo Chemical Depot from 2015 to 2024 and subsequent plans, policy, and doctrine responsibilities with Joint Task Force–Civil Support have shaped an approach grounded in coordination and defined responsibilities. These experiences inform his consulting; they do not imply government endorsement.
AJ holds an MBA from Colorado Technical University and the Certified Business Continuity Professional credential. His FEMA professional development includes Professional Continuity Practitioner, the Master Exercise Practitioner Program, the National Emergency Management Advanced Academy, and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program training. This foundation supports a connected approach to planning, exercises, continuity, and improvement.
As a Hoover Institution Veteran Fellow in the 2025–2026 class, AJ developed the Mental Health Continuity Project through his capstone work. The emerging framework addresses psychological and organizational consequences that continue after immediate danger has passed. It is being refined through structured feedback and does not represent validated clinical outcomes or institutional endorsement.
AJ shares his work through leadership webinars, workshops, and publications, including NCT Magazine. His community service includes the Suffolk School Safety Audit Committee and the WHRO Community Advisory Board, connecting operational experience with the communities organizations serve.
Clients work directly with AJ. Collaboration with partners and subject-matter experts can be arranged when an engagement benefits from additional expertise.
